About David E. Phelps: Briggs, Phelps, Kirby, Austin
I started down the genealogy road back in the early 1990s. I had been interested when I was a teenager, and asked many questions of my grandmother and great aunt - and wrote down a lot of information, which I kept in a file cabinet at home. However, with the advent of college and summer jobs, I didn't have the time to do anything with it. Then I was called to active duty in the Air Force. Some years later, after retirement from the Air Force, my dad died, then my mother; with that event it was necessary to take care of my mother's estate, which essentially consisted of her house. When we arrived, one of the first things I wanted to find was the old file cabinet, and the genealogical information I had collected years before. Alas - through the years, and a series of room renters, the filing cabinet was - gone. We found a cardboard box with some of the files in it, but not the one I was looking for. So I consigned that project to faded memories, and let it go. Then, I visited my cousin Donald, and his wife Betty mentioned that they had received a copy of genealogical information from a distant cousin. They sent me a copy, and I started anew. This web site is the result of ten years' research and work followed on from the information in that distant cousin's work. If anyone sees errors in the information, or has additional information about this family tree, please contact me.
